Mother Courage
by Bertolt Brecht

Playing Mother Courage was one of the most terrifying and thrilling experiences I've ever had in the theatre. In the middle of the rehearsal process of this show, Russia invaded Ukraine. And after becoming deeply involved in the political struggle, I found myself speaking Brecht's words with more conviction. I was lucky to have a director, Scott Knowles, who showed me incredible trust and patience, who gave me a space to explore the nuance and importance of politics through art. Never again would a approach a show without deeply considering how our words as artists can make an impact. I am forever grateful for this show. It lives in me always.
